Snug
About Snug

Started by Leanne Logan in 2005, Snug aims to create sustainable employment for African women from disadvantaged communities by teaching them to crochet and knit beautiful items for you and your home.

Training takes place at the Living Hope Community Centre but once skilled in their craft, most of the women work from their homes in Masiphumelela informal settlement, commonly known as "Site 5". This enables them to earn a living while taking care of their children during the day.

Snug produces hand-made scarves, shawls, hats, gloves, blankets and cushion covers, using the finest quality locally produced kid mohair, cotton and merino wool. Hand-dyed wool together with other yarns and beads are also used in the detail of the products, giving them a unique look and feel.
